S3-compatible object storage in Switzerland for backup and archiving

Netstream Object Storage is an S3-compatible object storage for backup and archiving purposes. We operate the service as a managed service in our own data centre in Switzerland. You obtain storage capacity without operating any infrastructure yourself.

S3 compatibility

Object Storage offers a native S3 API. S3-capable applications and tools, such as backup and archiving solutions, can be connected without code changes and without additional gateways.

Data location and data sovereignty

We store and process all data, replicas and metadata exclusively in our company-owned data centres in Switzerland (Dübendorf site, CH-DUB). Your data remains your property. Each customer receives their own strictly isolated account.

Redundancy and scalability

Each object is automatically written to three independent nodes. If a single component fails, no data is lost. The platform has no single point of failure and grows without interruption, without any changes to buckets or access credentials.

For our capacity management we rely on you to announce larger expansion steps of 250 TB or more as early as possible. This ensures that the required storage is available at the time you need it. We cover larger growth without prior notice on a best-effort basis.

Security

  • Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2 or higher) and at rest (AES-256)
  • S3 Object Lock (WORM) in Governance or Compliance mode: data is protected against modification and deletion during the retention period
  • Hardened platform without root access at file system level as additional protection against ransomware
  • Access via S3 access keys that you manage yourself
  • Immutable audit log of all access

Access and connectivity

Access is via the public internet or via a private interconnect, either at one of our points of presence or directly at your site. Multipart upload is supported for large amounts of data.

Management and transparency

A self-service dashboard shows you storage usage, data transfer, operations and retention periods, and lets you manage buckets and access. On request, we can set up alerting for unusual activity.

Billing

Billing is monthly and usage-based (pay-as-you-go) or as a prepaid bundle (Reserved Capacity). 

In the pay-as-you-go model, we charge a minimum of 1024 GB per month.
