Hypervisor (Virtual Machine Monitor)

What is a hypervisor?

A hypervisor, also called a virtual machine monitor, enables virtual machines (VMs) to be created and run through a process. The hypervisor allocates the VMs' resources, such as memory and computing power, virtually on the host computer, which allows it to support several guest VMs at the same time.

There are two types of hypervisor: type 1 hypervisors, also known as "bare-metal" hypervisors, which run directly on the host hardware, and type 2 hypervisors, also called "hosted" hypervisors, which run as a software layer in an operating system, much like other computer programs.

Hypervisors offer many advantages, including optimal use of the available system resources and greater IT mobility, as guest VMs are independent of the host hardware. This makes it easy to move VMs between different servers.

Our solutions support a wide range of hypervisors.
